The Vine Music Academy

At

we offer daily mentoring support for students as they grow throughout the week.

Daily guidance and practice is the best way to learn an instrument. Just as budding seeds and plants need to be watered every day, and a vine provides constant nourishment to its branches, growing music students need ongoing feedback, instruction, and encouragement from their teachers.

"...education in music is most sovereign, because more than anything else rhythm and harmony find their way to the inmost soul and take strongest hold upon it, bringing with them and imparting grace, if one is rightly trained"

- Plato, The Republic

"...music has the power of producing a certain effect on the moral character of the soul, and if it has the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed to music and must be educated in it."

- Aristotle, Politics

A Lineage of Greatness.

All of our teachers are vetted and come directly from a centuries long succession of classically trained musician-teachers. We offer mentorships for a wide array of instruments and styles.

Daily Mentoring at the Vine

No need to set a meeting time!

The exchange is asynchronous. Students simply record themselves, and they will receive feedback within a day from their teachers. A typical video may be 30 seconds to 5 minutes long.

High Quality Lessons Online

In addition to daily instruction and feedback, our instructors meet with students online for live, 1-on-1 lessons on a monthly or biweekly basis.

Why do students need daily feedback?

Daily feedback is crucial because students often forget after their lesson how they are to work on their assignments. They often just need a quick reminder or demonstration. This ensures they make steady progress each week.

Accelerated Learning

Some students are fast learners and are able to pass off songs before their next weekly lesson. With daily feedback, the teacher can advance them more quickly through the curriculum.

Didn't get a chance to record a video?

That's okay! Daily videos are not required. This program allows students to advance at their own pace, and is 100% flexible to work around your schedule.

Regular Check-Ins

We do still encourage at least one video a week to demonstrate progress and to keep students accountable. Even if the student has not had a chance to practice all week, the teacher will still want to check in on the student and give some encouragement if needed.

How will this work?

We use the Telegram app, a free messaging app where we can easily share videos and messages. Telegram works on any device, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. Students will be able to see their assignments, record a video of themselves, playing, send text messages, and see their teacher's responses, all in one place.

The Best of Both Worlds

This new way of learning an instrument solves several problems. Do you have multiple children and a busy schedule? This program works around your schedule and cuts out any need to travel. It is 100% in your home.

Tired of watching YouTube videos and using apps like Simply Piano to learn an instrument? Are you concerned you are using bad form, playing things incorrectly, and developing bad habits without realizing it? And yet, you need the convenience of staying at home...

This program gives you the ability to receive direct coaching from experienced music teachers while also remaining flexible and convenient. Mentorship is absolutely crucial to grow as a musician, and that is what we offer.

Do you wish you could have more timely and consistent feedback from your teacher, rather than waiting for a session with them once a week? That is why we offer daily feedback to accelerate learning and keep you on track.

Are there weeks that you simply do not have time to practice, and it is too burdensome to prepare week after week without fail for a weekly coaching session? We offer the best balance between flexibility, forgiveness, accountability, and live coaching.

Optimized Coaching

We are convinced that the best part about this program is that it optimizes the quality of our live coaching sessions with students. Too often a lesson consists in sorting through minor details, practicing portions that could have been ironed out better during the week, and undoing mistakes that have become habitual! This method of exchange allows for the teacher to better prepare the student for their live coaching session.

In a live coaching session, time is best spent on higher level development. A coaching session is meant to inspire more dramatic delivery, explore deeper aspects of interpretation, and to stimulate the student's creativity.
